NJ WELL at Garden State Spine

Garden State Spine and Pain Institute is thrilled to be a provider of a statewide healthcare program, NJ WELL. The State of New Jersey began this wellness program in January 2014. It has been incorporated into School Employees’ Health Benefits Program’s (SEHBP) health benefit plans offered through Aetna and Horizon. It offers actively working participants a plethora of health incentives to learn more about their current health status and to work towards improving it.

NJ WELL focuses on helping participants better understand their current state of health. Employees and their covered spouses will each receive a $100 VISA gift card when they earn a total of 250 Wellness Points; that is a total of $200 per family in Year 1. Points are earned by participating in both a biometric screening (blood work) and an online health assessment (which takes about 20 minutes on average to complete). To make these incentives even more worthwhile, they are done for free in our offices. All you have to do is schedule an appointment with us to have your blood drawn and complete the online survey to receive the gift card. The purpose of the biometric screening is to identify some potential health risks. Once the blood work results are faxed to our office, we will contact you to schedule another appointment to review them with one of our nurse practitioners.

NJ WELL doesn’t want participants to just stop after the first year; the overall goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of those who take part in this program. There are increased financial incentives for the following years for active employees and their covered spouses. Participants can earn points by reaching goals associated with the results of their biometric screening, quitting smoking, receiving preventive screenings, working with health coaches, and completing online incentives. During year 2 participants can earn $200 and during year 3, $250.
